Hariharpur – Distribution of dry ration to 175 families :

Uddyom was back in Hariharpur for the third instalment of the distribution of relief material there, exactly a fortnight from the previous visit. 175 families were provided with the regular items alongwith new additions like iron tablets and sattu. For these people, an earth-shattering (literally) event had taken place in the interim period. On 20 May, the sky actually fell on them and blew away their shelters. Amphan made us add another very critical item this time – tarpaulin sheets. A couple of our members had surveyed the houses which bore the brunt of the super-cyclone beforehand, and Uddyom handed those families with tarpaulin so that they can somewhat save themselves from further fury of Nature. And based on our experiences in Bharu Ramkrishnapur, we had collected spare clothes from households as well which were laid out here for the people to pick up. As usual the volunteers of Chaaron were in full flow assisting us in organising the distribution process, maintaining discipline, managing the beneficiary database, even lending helping hands to the elderly and the weak in carrying the ration back to their homes.
